I came across this site the other day that takes a different approach to captchas. Instead of being those hard to read images, it serves advertisements and asks the user to do something with them, for example enter the text in the ad, the text in quotes, or answer a question about the ad. I've found that its much easier to answer then a normal captcha.
The service is called Solve Media. AOL and Hearst have investments in it, so it's probably trustworthy. Microsoft and Toyota have also placed some ads in it. Not sure yet how much they pay, as I'm building it into a new site I'm making. I'll let you guys know once I have an idea.

these are also used on places like moolah.com if they think you have an ad-blocker running, they usually make you answer a question about an ad and if you can't you don't get to play.
