Which OS do you prefer?
If it's Linux, what distro?
If it's Windows, what kind?

Personally, I prefer Linux.

I like Macs because of their simplicity. You rarely get viruses with them. But then again, Windows isn't so bad. I like both but tend to lean more to macs. :)

I like Linux most, but because I can't run most of my games on it, I'm stuck to using Windows.

Yup. Problem is Windows doesn't like case sensitive partions.
I'm going to give Windows 70gb and see how long it lasts.

I would like to use Linux but my Winmodem and my dial-up internet prevents that.
For now I'm stuck with Windows.
I do plan on getting a Mac someday though

Like chris said... windows sort of makes me isntall it to play any decent games but I wouldn't go with a mac simply because linux is just as well and is free for what I could do with a mac...

Mac is a cheap unorganized version of Windows. I'd much rather have Linux (which happens to be free... and has a lot more features) rather than Mac. Windows XP/Vista all the way!

if every single piece of written software was cross-platform i would go for linux.
but since almost 90% of all the programs on the internet are made specifically for windows. I use windows.

I use a lot of applications coded by single people (not big companies) these tend to be windows-only. even if they are programmed in an other language than vb.

I would not go linux at all as it's ugly and Firefox isn't working as it should. And all text on webpages is written in bold and italic. Firefox's navbar isn't auto marked when you click on it etc

:o take it back, firefix isn't like it is in windows I'll give you that but you can get sweet browsers like sea monkey or something :P. Though I've never had a problem with all bold, you sure you weren't just zoomed in or something funky with your graphics settings? I don't mind linux at all it's fairly nice, especially ubuntu. (Or centOS for servers :P)

I love Mac's because everything is so simplistic and easy, however that can sometimes be a problem when you want to customize your system a bit more, or you want to take the more advanced approach about something.

I just find that macs are so overpriced for what you get. I think they are great running machines but like you said, difficult to customize for power users and way overpriced.
